Glenda’s Glimpses: Waters Parted

January 14, 2014

Exodus 15:19
When Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen went into the sea, the Lord brought the waters of the sea back over them, but the Israelites walked through the sea on dry ground.

Protection. Deliverance. God is so good. There are times when God puts a protective bubble around us, a hedge of protection. One of my favorite movie scenes is in the feature-length, animated version of the exodus of the children of Israel from Egypt, The Prince of Egypt. It was in the magnificence of God parting the waters of the Red Sea so that the people could walk on dry ground. I used that phrase “God parted the waters” many times on the walk across America. For instance, it was amazing how often it would threaten to rain but wouldn’t start until Jim had finished walking for the day, or we would wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of rain and then wake up in the morning to the quiet of rain finished – just in time for Jim to begin walking. Jim walked “on dry ground.” God provided, protected.
